Garufa Tango is a musical group based in Pamplona. Formed in 2008, it consists of Axel O'Mill, voice and Gorka Pastor, piano. Their musical repertoire includes classic tango authors such as Enrique Santos Discepolo, Anibal Troilo, Astor Piazzolla, and Homero Manzi Homero and Virgilio Expósito among others. Axel was born in Buenos Aires, in the Palermo neighbourhood and begins tango lessons at the age of eight. Gorka, the Basque half of this duo, is a piano professor at the Noáin conservatory and has an extensive career as pianist in different styles such as classical, jazz and electronic. Garufa Tango has refined their melodic style without losing the Buenos Aires essence, so characteristic in this music. Despite the short time since the band was created, Garufa Tango has performed along musicians such as bandoneon player Dario Polonara, guitarist Gustavo Cassisi and Pablo Sarasate’s conservatory of Pamplona string quartet directed by Koldo Pastor.
